Car-n-arfon: Community Electric Car available for hire

Do you live in the Caernarfon area? If so, did you know that there’s a community electric car here that you can hire?

The white car is based at the council’s multi-storey car park, opposite the Bingo Hall, where there’s a charging point to ensure that the car’s task is always full, ready for the next driver.

The community car is part of the Co Wheels network, the UK’s largest community interest car club operator. You pay £25 membership fee (this is a one-off payment, there’s no monthly membership fee), and then a membership card will be sent to you. Your membership card then acts as the key to open the car.

Once you’re a member you can book the car over the phone, on co-wheels’ website or through the co-wheels app. It’s quite easy to do, but if you’re not sure about any of this you’re more than welcome to come drop in to our office in town for a chat and we’ll help you get set up. The DEG office is above the butcher’s shop – first floor, 2 Bangor Street.

Insurance is included, and you can hire the car for as little as an hour or for days at a time, and by using the promotion code CAERNARFON11 when you join you’ll automatically get £11 worth of driving credit (that’s two hours’ hire).

For more information and to hire the car visit www.co-wheels.org.uk or feel free to contact Phil McGrath at DEG with any questions: phil@deg.cymru / 07399 174 212.

If you’re interested in electric cars this is the perfect way to have a go at driving one. And don’t forget to tell your friends and family!
